Sorry, I dissappeared

Hi everyone!
It's been almost a year since I last posted. I know I pretty much dissapeared without saying anything and I feel a little bit bad about it. Truth is that, when I wrote my last post, I thought that I'll write again, but I didn't feel in the mood for it and also life stuff got in the middle. I was kind of frustrated with the blog and also I was starting to feel like this was my job and that I HAD TO post every week. I wasn't having fun with it anymore, so I dediced to stop. I thought on writting a "see you later" post, but I kind of let time pass by and didn't do so.

In all honesty, the thing I feel a little bit more sorry about is not saying thank you to Phyllis from A day in the life of my dolls for the great stuff she sent me. I don't know if you remember it, but a while ago she had a giveaway and I won second place in the International giveaway. I did say thank you personally to Phyllis when I sent her my delivery adress, but I also wanted to share it with you. Here's all the stuff she sent me:

The Monster Crafts blog

The hammock wasn't part of the prize, but the person that won the first price didn't want it, so Phyllis sent it to me. She also sent me this cute little handmade rug. How cool is that?

I don't really like to brag about my personal life in here, but if you read my last post, you probably know that I wasn't having the best time at my work place. Well, it turns out that I ended up quiting that job because I got offered a new one. I got really tired of having a horrible work schedule and feeling underrated and not able to evolve and improve as fast as I expected. Also, I got loaded with more work and responsabilities than before, but my paycheck didn't increase at all. So, I quit.

In my new job I have a better work schedule and a bigger paycheck, but the whole working enviroment isn't great. Also, I still haven't much time to study and finish my degree, so I've also ended up giving up this one. So, starting this September, I'm taking a year off to focus on my degree and finish as many subjects as I can.

Ken The Monster Crafts

By the end of last semester I thought of writting an update post in here, because I still felt a little bit bad about leaving without saying anything, but unfortunately, in December my grandma passed away and just a month later, my uncle passed away too. It's not that I'm trying to make up an excuse out of this and I don't want to make you feel bad, but I just want you to get the whole picture and understand why I took a break from the blog and my doll social networks.

However, let's change subject and talk about something else, because you probably already have not-so-happy things going on in your life, and I feel like this post is not turning out very uplifting. Since I  have more spare time, I finally can focus on my hobbies, from doll collecting to drawing. I used to draw several years ago, but had to quit it because of my job and college. I'm also getting to improve my graphic design skills.

I do have some plans going on for this blog. I haven't purchased many dolls lately, but I still have plenty to unbox since last year. I don't think I will be doing as many doll reviews as I used to do and instead focus more on other type of posts. For example, I'd love to write some craft tutorials and focus on improving my doll photography skills. I've also have a couple of ideas in mind for some Youtube videos. Remember that video that I did a year ago?

I'm also planning on changing the whole look of the blog. However, that will take some time, as I don't really know what I want exactly and also my graphic desing skills aren't that great.

Well, if you have make it this far in this super long post, thank you so much. I hope my next post will be much happier.

I'd also would appreciate if you guys have some ideas or suggestions for future posts on this blog to leave them in the comment section down below, as well as if you want to share what have you been up to. I'll try to visit all of your blogs to keep up with your lives.

Blog to you soon.

  1. Hello, welcome back :-)! I'm glad to see a post from you, any time :-). So sorry to read about your Grandma and Uncle's passing away, my condolences. I don't know if you remember me, it's Linda from previous Darkroom Dolls blog. Now I have a new blog and a doll story blog. I look forward to reading your future posts, and don't worry, we all need breaks for real life issues, that's how life goes :-). The prize from Phyllis is awesome, and the rug she made is so cute! Well, hope to hear from you soon, but please don't feel pressured or anything to blog, we all are here and are going nowhere :-). Big hugs!

Thank you so much for your condolences. It's been hard, but life goes on.

  2. Hi, great to see you back! I remember you winning that giveaway, I was happy to see the prize go to someone I knew and liked. I hope your year off is enough for you to finish all you have planned. I'm excited to see what craft projects and drawings you have in mind. Blogs with just reviews are boring :)

    1. Hi Black Kitty! Thanks, I'm glad to be back. I also felt that doing only doll reviews was getting dull, and it wasn't what I really wanted for my blog. It was quite time consuming and some of the dolls I reviewed were quite similar. I think I'll only do reviews if it's a brand new doll line, or something different, like the curvy MTM Barbie.

  3. Hi MC. Welcome back. Sorry to hear about your losses. I totally understand, however, your need and desire to take a break. Google and social media has us hooked on stats and numbers (FB even alerts me when I take too long to post!) But doll play and blogging should be fun. If not, what's the point. I'm glad to see you back. But, my dear...don't forget to simply live life. Have fun. And when you're ready....blog about it!!!!! Big hugs. April

    1. Hi April, thank you so much for your lovely comment. I'm glad to be back. I've actually missed blogging, but I know that the way I was doing it wasn't the right one.
      Thanks for stopping by.

  4. Welcome back! I'm sorry for your losses, but I'm glad that you have some positive plans for moving forward. I have that hammock too! I'm sure that your dolls will enjoy it this summer. And that rug that Phyllis made for you reminds me of one that my mom made for my Sunshine Family dolls back in the 1970s.

I'm looking forward to seeing your artistic projects!

    1. Hi Barb! I'm not the most crafty person on the Internet, but maybe I can come up with something that inspires others.
Thank you so much for your kind comment.

  5. So glad to see you back! I was wondering what happened to you and knew you were having work related problems and I totally get where that can take you down. Remember that you should be doing this blog for yourself and not to please anyone else. Life does have a way of getting in the way and the blogs have to take a back seat to that. I am sorry for the losses of your Grandma and Uncle.

Oh, and your are very welcome for the prizes your won in my birthday giveaway last year! I cannot even believe it has been almost a year already. I did not do a Christmas Giveaway this past year, but I will do another birthday giveaway soon, as my birthday is about a month away. It will be on a much smaller scale this year!

I too look forward to seeing more of your artistic projects and tutorials. I always enjoy seeing how others do things and can always learn to do something new!

    1. Hi Phyllis! Thanks, I'm glad to be back. Yes, I should keep in mind that I do this because I enjoy it, and also I should try not to compare my blog to other people's blog.
As I said in a previous reply, I'm not the most skilled crafter, but I agree, we can always learn something from other people's ideas and ways to do things.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment!
