'Tis the season

Image
It's that time of the year again! Can you believe how fast 2022 has gone? It doesn't feel real to me, as I seem to still be trying to process 2021. But turns out it is, indeed, real, and Christmas has arrived.  To celebrate the Holiday season, I like to do a Holiday themed photoshoot with my dolls. I've been doing this for the past 4 years, so I think it's safe to say it's already a tradition on this blog. Due to how busy I've been with school, this year I haven't had much time to prepare this, but, as soon as I took the last exam, I started prepping my mini Christmas tree and decor.  For this photoshoot, I took my Sea glass wall and the mini tree I've been using every year and set up a quick scene. The tree is part of my usual Christmas decor, so that's why it always has the same blue ornaments, since my house is painted blue. But this year, I wanted to add more ornaments, so I got the same ornaments, but in copper, so I mixed the two. I'm not

Photo compilation: September-October 2022

I've been quite busy with school, with 3 exams and lots of homework. Luckily, next week is going to be a quiet one, so I thought it would be a great time to do a quick photo compilation.   As you might have guessed, I've barely posted any new photos these past two months. In fact, I've just posted 6 photos on Instagram, and 3 of them I had already taken months ago. But, 6 photos plus a "behind the scenes" shot is still enough for a compilation, so let's go.  Since I was quite busy with school, I didn't have much time for a "seasonal themed" photoshoot (or for any photoshoot). But, a few weeks ago, I bought a very cheap fall wreath and I thought I could take some quick fall themed photos. So, before I hanged the wreath on my door, I took these photos.  Ther

Please, don't support shady companies that do this.  Hello again dolly-friends! Long time, no see. I've been busier than I anticipated with school, and I've barely had much time left for my hobbies. I thought during the first weeks I would have more spare time, but was quite busy running errands to get books and school supplies, so no. And then I started with exams and papers, so it's been hard to find some spare time. But finally, here we are. I actually started writing this post over a month ago, but until now I haven't had the time to finish it. Because of this, I don't remember as many details of how I made it as I usually would, so I'm afraid this tutorial is going to be all over the place. Please, bear with me.  If you read my new crate bookshelf post , you probably saw two vases that I made to add some ex

Photo compilation: July-August 2022

Hello again and welcome back to another Photo compilation . If this is your first time here, this is the series on my blog where I share the photos I've been posting on Instagram for the last two months, and sometimes share a bit of extra information or behind the scenes shots about them. This month it's time to take a look at the photos I took between July and August.  I barely published any new photos in July, as I wasn't very inspired. But, after we came back from our trip, I had a bunch of new photos to share. You've already seen most of them on the dedicated post , but there's a few I didn't share here.  This photo of Victoria was a pain to take. Because of the shape of this rock, I had to be on the squats to get a decent angle. Meanwhile, a very annoying fly kept buzzing on my ear, which added some distraction to an already uncomfortable pose. This was the best shot I could get. I'm quite happy with it, to be honest, although I think it could be better

How to: doll-size crate bookshelf (new design)

Image
Back in 2020 I made a crate bookcase for my dolls and, on that post, I mentioned I had more ideas for different designs. I didn't get to make any of those designs I mentioned, unless we count the crate console I made last year (and that seriously needs a re-do). I almost forgot about this idea until a few months ago, when it started creeping up again. I also had all this colors I got on Christmas that I hadn't had the chance to try yet, so I thought this could be the perfect excuse to use them.  Since I've done quite a few posts on how to make crates, I won't go super in-depth with the explanation, as I don't want to bore my usual readers. However, if this is your first time here, you can always go to my previous posts linked above for further clarification. Between that and the photos, I think you'll be good to go. First, we need to plan out our design. I'm a very visual person, so, to get an idea of the size, I piled up some crates and took a photo next

Travelling dolls: Albarracín

This post was first published on themonstercrafts.blogspot.com . If you see it published anywhere else, it has been reposted without my consent.  Hello again! It's been a month since my last post. Like I mentioned then, I wasn't sure if I would be able to post anything until we came back from our little holiday. Mr. Monster has been on holiday, so we've been both busy running errands and doing paper work, so I've barely had any time to come in here and write a post. And then we went away for a few days, so I haven't even been reading your posts. But, since I did take some doll photos during our holidays, I thought it could be a fun idea to share them and talk a bit about what we did.  When we thought about going away this summer, we didn't feel comfortable going to another country, so we decided to travel somewhere in Spain. We love the interior and the north of Spain, because their food tends to be delicious, and the weather is slightly cooler than where we liv
