Unboxing Barbie Extra dolls

Image
Hello again and welcome to my 220th post. Today I just feel like doing a good ol' unboxing of some dolls that I've had lying around for some time and give them some time to shine with a dedicated blog post and photoshoot. It's been a while since I've done one of these, so I guess today is the day.  For this post I'm unboxing two dolls from the Barbie Extra line. For those who aren't familiar Barbie Extra is a playline line that is characterized for it's often colorful and bold outfits and the accessories they come with. These are the only two dolls that I own from the Extra line, so my opinion of the line in general is going to be based on these two.   I believe the line was originally launched around 2020-2021, so I'm very late to the party when it comes to unboxing them. Since then there have been quite a few dolls in the line as well as variants (deluxe editions with more accessories) and "spin off" series like the Barbie Extra Minis. Here w...

Doll review: Barbie Looks model 16 (curvy)

This was definitely not the post I was planning to make, but turns out it was the post that I felt like writing. To be fair, I have been very busy with both work and my German classes. On top of that, I've had doctor appointments and other things that have kept me busy, so I haven't had much time to work on anything doll-related, despite how much I wanted to. Since it hasn't been possible to make any sort of craft project, I thought it could be a good idea to do a short doll review, because those are much easier to do, and I have a ton of dolls sitting in their boxes. Today is finally time to review Barbie Looks #16, which came out ages ago, but I really want to talk about her. Mr. Monster bought her as a gift, but I can't remember if it was for my birthday or for Christmas. Anyway, she's been sitting in her box for way too long. This doll came out with the third wave of Barbie Looks. Contrasting with the first two waves that had more muted color schemes, this wave ...

New doll: Barbie Fashionista 185 (curly hair and freckles)

April has just arrived, and Easter break is about to start, which means I won't have school for a few days. And honestly, it was about time. I had a few relaxed days after the exams, but then we got a whole load of work to do before the break. But finally, here we are, about to unbox a new doll. This is Barbie Fashionistas #185, that came out probably last year. Mr. Monster bought her for me a while back and she's been sitting in her box waiting to be unboxed, and her time has finally come. This is not going to be a very in-depth review, as this doll has been on the market for a while now, but I still want to take the chance to take some pics of her and let you know what I like and don't like about her.  A quick mention about the box. For a couple of years now, Mattel has been doing this plastic "pencil case like" boxes for the Barbie Fashionistas. I guess the idea behind it is to waste less plastic, as this can be reused. It looks like a good way to transport do...

Doll review: Barbie Looks model 12 (curvy)

Hello again my dear dolly-friends! It's been an eventful start to 2023. Ms. Rona finally got us and I had to miss the first week of class. This led to me having a lot of catching up, and then we had a week packed with exams. Also, I had to re-glue my ring light that broke last year, but due to circumstances, I never found time for it. My plan was to prepare some content in advance for the blog, but clearly I haven't been able to. Luckily, this week is a quiet one, so I'm trying to find some time here and there to write a new post. While I don't do doll reviews as often as I used to, from time to time I get a doll that I think it's worth talking about in a dedicated post. And that is exactly the case with this Barbie Looks Model #12. While this doll has been out in the market for a few months now, I still want to share my thoughts with you. Plus, it will give me an opportunity to talk about the upcoming wave from this series. But, without any further ado, let's s...

Doll review: Barbie Looks model 2 (curvy)

Hello and welcome to the first doll review of 2022. I haven't done a doll review in over a year, when I reviewed the BMR redhead guy , back in February 2021, so it was really about time. I used to do reviews back to back, but now I very rarely do so, due to the fact that I barely buy any dolls. This is due to the fact that I don't have much money to spend on dolls anymore, but also there hasn't been anything in the market that has really caught my eye recently. However, a few months back, Mattel put out this Barbie Looks line, and this particular doll was a standout for me.  For those of you who aren't really into Barbie dolls, the Looks line is a collectors line consisting of 6 dolls that launched in summer 2021 (see them here ). The line seems to pay homage to the Barbie Basics line from 2009, but with the addition of the made to move body and new face sculpts. Later that year, 3 new dolls have cme out. These dolls original retail price is 20USD, which is a fair price...
