2019 Wishes

Hi everyone!
I just wanted to drop by and write my last post of 2018. This year I’ve been a terrible blogger, as I’ve barely written anything. I haven’t felt like writing, but now I can’t wait to be back. I’d love to be able to write at least one post per month in 2019, but as usual, I’ll get busy with college and probably I won’t be able to do so. I’m thinking of writing some posts during my college holidays and leave them scheduled during the school year.

Happy New Year 2019 Monster Crafts

Also, I’m not as excited about new doll releases as I used to be, so I thought that next year I will focus more on my current doll collection and start crafting some things for my dolls. I’d love to do a small diorama for doll photography. I’d also love to start sewing; my dolls really need new outfits!

I’m also curious to know which kind of posts you would be interested in. Here’s a list of things I’d love to write about:

  • Get to know me posts, in which I talk about my life as a college student and other stuff.
  • Doll reviews
  • Doll photography posts, maybe linked to a theme. I could include “behind the scenes” shots, so you can get ideas for your doll photos. I’m not really an expert, but I could learn from the feedback you give me.
  • Doll opinionated posts
  • Doll related product concepts. This would be similar to my “Things I’d love to see from Mattel in 2019”, but more specific.
  • Doll crafts
  • Craft supplies reviews.
  • Doll “biography” posts. This would be like a short fictional biography for one or two of my dolls.
  • Blogging related posts. Black Kitty was curious to learn how monetization works, so I could write a short post about that.

This is more or less what I’ve been thinking of. Let me know your favourite ones in the comments down below, or feel free to leave any other ideas or suggestions.

I wish you all have a wonderful New Year’s Eve, and I hope 2019 brings you lots of happiness and wonderful things.

Happy 2019!

M.C.

  1. If you're not 'excited about new doll releases' then you shouldn't feel pressured to write doll reviews. Never buy something you don't want just so you can write a review. No matter how trendy something is, if you don't love it then it's just wasting money and taking up space that could be going towards something you actually like.
That said, I wouldn't mind seeing more craft posts on your blog. Doll profiles can also be fun. My own blog is a collection of interconnected stories told from the point of view of my dolls. However there are two directions you can go in as far as that goes. Some doll bloggers portray their dolls as real people living in a complete, fictionalized world. Other bloggers go for more of a Toy Story movie approach where the dolls know that they're dolls living in a human world and sometimes interact with humans. My blog uses the later approach, but do what works best for you. I look forward to seeing whatever you come up with in the new year.

    1. Hi Treesa, thanks for stopping by!
I usually buy what I like, I wouldn't buy something I dislike for a review. However, I did feel some pressure to get the doll early to be able to make the review before anyone else. If I've ever bought a doll I wasn't super excited about it's because they were on sale at a ridiculous Price.
The thing with crafts is that it takes me such a long time to write the post, and I also ask my boyfriend to help me with the photos. I have tons of ideas for crafts, but some of them have already been done by My Froggy Stuff, in a much profesional way. I like the two different approaches of doll bios you mention, I Will definitely sleep on it.
      Take care.

  2. If it relates to dolls, I'm interested, although I would like some "get to know me" posts too. Don't worry if someone else has done a craft that you want to share. It's always fun to see what someone else has made, even if it's not "perfect." It's always interesting to see what another crafter brings to a project.

    1. I guess you are right about the crafting posts. I've done some of her crafts on previous posts, but I've always made very clear that I was basing on her crafts. I don't want it to look like I'm "copying" her, but as you say, I can always bring my own touch to the Project.

  3. I would love to see crafts and craft supplies most of all. Actually, I'd read anything except doll bios. Some people are into that, but for me dolls are between displayed art and a crafting resource, not people replacements.

    1. Crafts seem to be a favourite here. I do see what you mean, but for me, giving a doll a name an certain personality traits and tastes inspires me when it comes to crafting. For example, I want to craft a living room for two of my dolls, as I picture them as University students that share apartment.

    1. Thank you Dom, I wish you have a happy 2019 too. I'm not an expert in photography, and I don't have a profesional camera, but I do what I can. It would be also interesting to see my learning journey once I've learned a few tricks.
      Thanks for your lovely comment
