Trying to settle down... and a plot twist

Image
I can't believe it's been almost a month since I last wrote here. And what a month it has been! Life has been a trainwreck this past weeks. I'm back in University, which keeps me busy during weekdays, since I've picked some hard classes. Then, during the first weekends, we kept ourselves busy finishing unpacking, going back to the old house to pick things that were still there, buying stuff that we needed and also doing the regular house chores, such as laundry. Sounds fun, huh? It took us 3 weeks to find time to fix the Billy bookcases to the walls, so until then, I couldn't arrange my books from college and my dolls. I started by putting my boxed dolls inside one of the bookcases and trying to arrange them as well as I could. In the old doll room, I had them all inside a box laying on the floor, but I want to keep this room as tidy as possible. The 4th week the whole virus thing exploded, and we haven't been able to leave the house. I wasn't goi...

Let's unpack that

Yes, you guessed it right! We are FINALLY in our new home. It's been a crazy journey, we've been waiting to move to this house for almost 2 years and it has finally happened. There were lots of setbacks, one of them being the fact that the town hall decided to remodel our street at the exact same time we were about to start renovating the house, so we had to wait until they were done. That put our spirits down a little bit, but as soon as we started with the renovation this summer, we were excited again. Our house wasn't ready to move in until January, more or less by the time I was busy with exams. As soon as I finished, I had to take care of few things that still need to be done in the house, plus packing everything. Packing took me forever, specially books and doll stuff. We wanted to move late January-early February, but we didn't manage to move until the 18th, the day before I started college again. I still have my dolls in boxes, and a few of them are still...

Just a little 2019 recap

Image
Hi guys! Happy New Year! Hope you all had a great and safe Holiday time. Just a few days ago I did my final exams from college, which means I will be free from school duties for a few weeks. But, as you may know at this point, I'll be moving home very soon, which means I have to spend most of my time packing and organizing stuff. There's not such a thing as too many dolls... until it's time to move home. And, on top of that, I have comic books, Funkos, Legos... plus the "real life" stuff such as clothing, kitchen stuff... I've moved home a couple times now, but this is the first "real move" with furniture and lots of stuff. The other times I moved house, I just had to pack clothes and a few other things, as I always moved to furnished homes. Anyway, we'll get through it.

Happy Holidays!

Hi guys! Just a quick post to wish you all a very happy Holiday season and a happy 2020. Life has been crazy and college has been a roller coaster. I can't wait for this semester to be over, as I'm quite stressed out and I'm not really enjoying the classes I'm taking this semester. Luckily, it will be over in January. Also, as you may know, we were about to move home. But, since life has been so crazy, Mr. Monster and I have decided that we'll be moving between mid January and mid February, after the Holidays and my finals from college. We were really looking forward to celebrate Christmas in our new house, but the restoration took much longer than expected and time was too tight to organize the move right before the Holidays. Anyway, there'll be another Christmas next year.  The house renovation... it has been a nightmare. I guess some of you might be wondering why is taking me so long. Well, we originaly planned on just fixing some things like a c...

The great outdoors

Image
It's no secret that I'm not the best photographer. If you have been around for a while, you may have noticed that I only take photos indoors, and that I used to always use the same backgrounds. This year I've been trying to experiment a bit more with backgrounds to make my pics more interesting, but I still kept it indoors. I did try to give a bit of the outdoors feel with my pool pics that I took in my back patio, but that was quite limited. My little patio isn't a great space for outdoor photography, as it doesn't have any plants or any interesting architecture item, so I really envy people who have a nice garden, as they can take outdoor pics quite easily. So, if like me, you don't have a nice private space to take outdoor pics, you have to go to a public space. I wasn't very keen on going out in a public space full of people with a bunch of dolls, but I also wanted to take the photos. So, I had to find a quiet space that could offer some interes...

Behind the scenes: dolls in a pool photography

Image
Hi again! The school year started a couple of weeks ago, so I'm busy, but I thought I could drop by and write a quick post. Every time I checked out Instagram this summer, my feed was flooded with beautiful photos of dolls by the pool. Most of them were on a doll size floatie, some of them were sunbathing by the pool. And I just wanted to take pics like that with my dolls. But the biggest problem was that I don't have a pool, nor I have a relative or friend that has a house with a pool. So, I had to get creative and make my own pool. A while back I posted some of this photos on my Instagram and in a Facebook group I'm in, The Pink Lounge . My photo received lot of possitive comments and people found very interesting how I did it. So, I thought it could be a good idea to write a short post and break it down for you.
