Doll Review: Elle Eedee

Hello ghouls! How are you? It's been a busy week for me at work, but I've managed to do a couple of reviews. I hope I can do 2 or 3 more before I start univesity again. Before I start with the review, I'd just want to remind you that I have a Facebook page, were I share things such as upcomming doll lines or were we can chat during no blogging periods.

So let's start with the review. Today I'm going to review Elle Eedee, from the Monster High line Boo York, Boo York. From this line I've already reviewed Nefera, so if you missed out, you can read the post here

Elle Eedee review

Elle is the daughter of the robots, and meets the rest of the Monster High ghouls while they're on Boo York. I was really looking foward to get her, but now my feelings about her are a little bit mixed. You'll understand soon why.

Elle's box is exactly the same as Nefera's. On the left of the box you can see this huge buldint that says "Boo York, Boo York".

The back of the box is exactly the same. Unlike Nefera, Elle brings a diary with her, so you don't need to download it from their website.

The background of the box is the same as Nefera's. The brush and the stand are hidden behind the building mentioned above.

Elle has a very pale skin. It's not really white, it's more like an off white tone. She has a robotic appearance, with lots of bolts and other details molded. She even has an start button on her forehead. Her eyes are pretty cool because they look like the objective of a camera.

The coolest thing about Elle's head are her ears, that have an speaker shape.

Her hair is very nice too and has a blend of black, turquoise blue and purple tones. Her hair is styled in a pony tail and she also wears this headpiece that looks like an antenna.

As I said earlier, she's got a lot of details modeled all over her body. For example, she's got bolts modeled on her elbows. While I'm inspecting her arms, I notice that one of her arms doesn't bend. I see that she's got some plastic in the joint that doesn't seem to be properly cut.

I try to fix this by removing her arm and trying to cut the excess plastic with a precission knife, but it doesn't work. I'm afraid to break the peg, so I quit trying to force her arm to move. This never happened to me before and I don't know how to fix it. If anyone could help me with this, it would be very appreciated.

So let's move on to her dress. Elle wears this nice purple tube dress with a dot pattern in the middle front of it. The dress also has this cape that has a pattern that looks like a baseplate. The cape is sewn to the dress. so it can't be removed.

She also wears this silver piece that is some kind of belt. It's very nice and detailed, but it doesn't allow the doll to move her legs properly.

Her shoes are made of clear plastic and the heels look like cristal. They're nice, but I've seen better shoe desings in the Monster High line.

I think that, overall, Elle Eedee is a nice doll. Her body sculpt is really cool, as well as her ears, but I don't find her as creative as I find Isi Dawndancer, for example. However, I'm quite dissappointed with the whole arm thing. I'm thinking of writting to Mattel, in case it's a way to find a new arm and not having to buy a whole new doll.

What do you guys think of Elle Eedee? Are you planning on getting her?

  1. I think you should insist with the knife. It looks like the joint parts have melted together. If you can't separate them by cutting around gently, slice all the way until you can take out the peg with the hinge. Clean the edges so that everything moves smoothly, put them back together and push a rustproof pin through the sides of the elbow. Then carefully cut the ends of the pin with wire cutters, avoid getting hit in the eye! The pin won't fall, but you can secure the ends with glue if you want.

    1. Hello Black Kitty! I also thought that they migh have melted, but after I cut the plastic, the joint moved a little bit (a milimiter more or less), but not enough to bend her arm, so I guess there's something offering resistance somewhere else. I'm going to try contacting Mattel, just in case I can get an spare arm for Elle. However, I will probably try insisting with the knife, just in case I can fix it. Thank you very much for your tip.
