How to: Textured "limewash effect" terracotta wall
Hello again dolly-friends. It's been a month since my last post and, while I might not have been seen around here, I've managed to work on some doll stuff. As I have mentioned in my last couple of posts, I'm trying to work on my Youtube channel. Up until now, I had mainly done miniature artwork videos because they're easy to do, but this time I wanted to give it a try to make a wall.
For a while now, I wanted to make a colorful version of the "limewash effect" textured wall that I did a while back, but never got around it. So, when the time came to film a new video, I thought it could be a great idea. So, here it is. (Check out this link in case the embedded code doesn't work).
Filming the wall was much harder than filming the teeny tiny artwork. I had a hard time figuring out how to fit the entire wall in frame. On top of that, since the support is attached to my table, every time I hit the wall with my sponge, it would shake my phone. Well, I'm a beginner, and these kind of things are supposed to happen. I think I've found a way to avoid that happening next time. Hopefully it will work.
On my last post I mentioned that I was torn between doing the wall in green or pink. I was dead set on making it green, because lately I'm quite into green. However, I did a couple of tests with the greens that I had and I wasn't sold on any of those. So, I decided to go with pink. I didn't do any tests for this, I just trusted the process and hoped for the best. Here's a pic of the samples that I discarded.
In retrospect, one of the greens doesn't look that bad, but it's not what I was going for. I would love to give it a go again using this technique, but this time using the green. What do you think?
I'm having a lot of fun making videos for YouTube, but it's a lot of work. You also need to pay attention to several different things: "Are my lights on?" "Am I in frame?" "Did I just forget to press record?". And then editing takes its fair share of time. But I've set for myself the goal to put out an average of 1 video per month, which is not a lot, but also not too demanding now that I don't have much free time.
As for the rest of my personal life, it's just as busy as always. Next month Mr. Monster and I are traveling to Slovenia to visit our nephew that lives there. I won't be taking any dolls with me, but I might do a dedicated post if you're interested. And would you believe, that as soon as we booked our trip, we came across a bunch of unexpected expenses. Our water filtering system had a leak and we had to pay a crazy expensive water bill. Of course, the system itself has to be replaced. Our bedroom AC is not working properly, and that needs to be taken care of. That can wait for a bit, as summer is not that close, but we'll eventually have to fix it. Luckily, I'm not really interested in any doll releases that have been put out recently, so I can put the money where it's needed and not have any "regrets".
I hope you're all doing well. Please, let me know what you think of the video. Also, if you can, subscribe to my channel and like the video, it does really help.
See you as soon as possible
