New bookcase and new artwork

Image
Hello again dolly-friends. Long time, no see. I haven't posted anything since December so I guess my first post of 2026 is going to be in April. Despite not being active posting, I've been working on some doll stuff behind the scenes. Not as much as I would have wanted to, but at least it's something.   In early 2026 I felt the urge to paint a miniature painting of a nighttime landscape. I had this idea in my head with a specific color palette, so I had to make it come to life. I did film a Youtube tutorial, as I usually do with my paintings, but it did take me months to edit and upload (more on that later). If you can't watch the video embedded down below, please follow this link .   Once the painting was finished, instead of immediately taking the photos and editing the video, I decided that I wanted to make a new miniature bookcase for my dioramas and use it for the final photos of this video. I've been wanting to make a new bookcase for quite some time, as I...

Quick craft: Easy Holiday decor for dolls

Image
Happy Holidays my dear dolly-friends! Can you believe the year is almost over?  As you know, this year I've been focusing on making videos for my YouTube channel, mostly artwork. I usually go with the flow and do whatever I feel like doing in that moment, not really thinking if it fits the season. But this time I was planning in advance the last videos, and I thought it would be a great idea to make something Christmas-themed for December.   Those who have been around here for years might remember a post I did back in 2021 titled Quick craft: letter decor . On said post I made a "Fall" sign and mentioned that I would love to do something similar for Christmas. So now, 4 years later, as I thought on what to do for the video, I found the perfect opportunity. Below you can find the video, but if it doesn't work, you can follow this link . Since this is such an easy craft, I decided to add an extra quick craft so I could make a longer video. I've just used a packet of...

New artwork: Barbiecore pink sunset painting

Image
Welcome back to my blog, my dear dolly-friends. How is November treating you so far? As you've probably noticed at this point, this year I've been really focusing on making craft projects and filming them for my YouTube channel. It was something that I had really wanted to do for quite some time, and this year I decided to finally go for it. I love crafting for my dolls and, while filming tutorials can be quite tricky, it's really fun to learn along the way. Most of what I've been sharing are miniature paintings, which are very easy to do and quite relaxing to make.  A bit in line with two of my latest artworks, I was searching for "Groovy" art over on Pinterest, and I came across  something similar to this. I have done landscape paintings before, like this boho landscape , but I liked the idea of doing one that was mainly in pink tones. At the end of the day, it's Barbie I'm crafting for.  I decided to call this painting "Barbiecore Pink Sunset...

How to: Textured "concrete effect" floor

Image
Welcome back my dear dolly-friends. How is Autumn/Fall treating you so far? As per usual, I am quite busy with work, school and other real-life stuff. However, I'm doing my best to find time to work on some video tutorials for my Youtube channel and publish a matching blog post over here.   If you recall my Doll Room in a Bookcase post , I made a white floor piece that was meant to be a temporary piece until I found time to make a nicer floor. Well, after two years, I've finally found the time!      Video: 1/6 scale miniature "Concrete effect" floor. The idea for this is pretty simple: use a sponge to create a texture that somewhat mimics concrete. It's very similar to the technique I've used previously to create textured walls, but this time I went with a taupe color. I used a light warm brown to give the floor a hint of warmth, and then more greyish colors to mute down the brown and give it a concrete feel. I know concrete is usually grey, but there's ...

Making Groovy Artwork

Image
Hello again doll friends. It's finally September, and I'm so glad summer is almost over. The heat over here has been unbearable and I'm ready for cooler days. Fall/autumn is my favorite season, both because I love the colors of fall, but also because it kind of feels like a new start.   Today's post is yet another compilation of my latest YouTube videos. Recently I have been diving into fun and colorful artwork with somewhat of a "groovy feel". I've discovered a bunch of this type of artwork on Pinterest, and I'm so drawn to it because it looks so fun and vibrant, especially for dolls. And lately, I just want to have fun. The first artwork that I made was this Groovy Flower. I've been seeing this type of art everywhere lately, in all shapes and color combinations. I decided to go with a fuchsia and a bright orange, which feel like a very groovy color combo.  1/6 scale "Groovy Pink Flower" miniature artwork for Barbie. At first, when I sta...

How to: Miniature 1/6 scale plants

Image
If you're a dedicated reader of this blog, you probably know that I've been working quite a bit on making tutorials for YouTube. Most of them were things I already wrote a tutorial for on the blog, especially the very first videos, but some of them are actually new projects. Doing tutorials is hard, both for the blog and for YouTube, but I've been enjoying more the filming process than blogging. I feel like the instructions are clearer there. And if I feel I need to clarify something, I can always explain it in the written post.  For the longest time I felt like my dioramas were lacking some greenery. So, I decided to make some plants out of paper. I did see something similar being done, but couldn't find the original person that posted it. So if you're reading this, thank you for the idea! I started filming this in May, but with exams and other life events, I couldn't finish the whole process of filming and editing until very recently. I don't know, but I d...

New artwork tutorials

Image
Hello again! Can you believe April is almost over? It's been over a month and a half since my last post, and I thought it would be a good idea to write a quick post to share some of my latest YouTube videos and do a quick catch-up.  This year I've decided to focus more on my YouTube channel. It's something I've wanted to do for a while, but I always found it hard to do. One of the things that I've discovered is that it's sometimes easier to film rather than to take photos to do a written tutorial. Yes, filming has its challenges, but I don't have to worry about putting a timer on my phone to get a photo that shows the process. I just press "record" and start crafting.    One of the main topics on my YouTube tutorials are miniature paintings. I decided to start with those because they're easier to do and they could be great practice until I got the hang of filming. I also have a lot of fun doing them and trying to come up with new ideas. The f...

How to: Textured "limewash effect" terracotta wall

Image
Hello again dolly-friends. It's been a month  since my last post and, while I might not have been seen around here, I've managed to work on some doll stuff. As I have mentioned in my last couple of posts, I'm trying to work on my Youtube channel. Up until now, I had mainly done miniature artwork videos because they're easy to do, but this time I wanted to give it a try to make a wall.  For a while now, I wanted to make a colorful version of the "limewash effect" textured wall that I did a while back, but never got around it. So, when the time came to film a new video, I thought it could be a great idea. So, here it is. (Check out this link in case the embedded code doesn't work). Filming the wall was much harder than filming the teeny tiny artwork. I had a hard time figuring out how to fit the entire wall in frame. On top of that, since the support is attached to my table, every time I hit the wall with my sponge, it would shake my phone. Well, I'm ...

Video tutorial: Miniature painting "Boho Landscape" in green tones

Image
Happy February, doll-friends! I'm so glad January is finally over, as it felt for me that it lasted for way too long.  Today's post is going to be short and sweet, but I just wanted to share with you my latest Video Tutorial. It's one of those "Boho landscapes" you see trending on Pinterest, this time in green tones. You might remember that I painted a similar one in warmer tones back in 2022 (check it out here ). This time, I made it using green tones. I don't know what it is, but lately I'm obsessed with green. Check it out I hope you enjoy the video. If the embedded coded doesn't work, you can watch it here . Please subscribe to my channel if you haven't already and like the video. If you could share it with others it would be very helpful. I'd love to get to 100 subscribers before the end of the year. A little secret about this painting: it's not the one I had originally planned to make. I did try to paint something else, but it ended u...

It's 2025...

Image
Happy 2025 dolly-friends! Long time, no see.  I have been very quiet since my last post in October 2024. You might already know I've been busy with both my job and my German classes. But apart from that, I also haven't been very motivated to work on anything doll related. I haven't done a Christmas-related post for the first time since 2020. I had my German test right before Christmas, which took a lot of my time then. But even when they were done, I just didn't have the energy to come up with any photoshoot ideas. Well, hopefully this year I will find the right motivation for it when the time comes.  Back in November I started working on a new wall for my dioramas, but it didn't work out as I planned. I tried twice, and both times I faced issues. I thought of trying a new material for this, but I searched high and low in my area and couldn't find it. I was on holiday that week and didn't want to order online for it to arrive at a later time, and then be sit...

Video tutorial: Blue Harbor board and batten wall

Image
Hello again doll friends! I can't believe I've managed to find time to post twice in a month, even if this is a short post.  As I mentioned on my Board and Batten tutorial , I wanted to make at least two more walls with that same design. Since I had already done this for the blog, I thought it would be a good idea to make a video for my YouTube channel, which hasn't been updated in over a year.  The footage isn't great, but I hope it's helpful. It is quite hard to film while working on a larger project like this. Smaller projects like the miniature paintings were so much easier! Mr. Monster did help me a bit this time around, so I could get a better angle.  I painted this wall in the color Blue Harbor by Americana Acrylics . I personally love the color blue, even though it's not super trendy right now. I don't know about you, but I feel like the combination of the board and batten + the color gives the wall a coastal vibe. Let me know what you think.  I wo...

Video tutorial: Miniature "boho" artwork

Image
My crafting motivation is back! These past few weeks, while I was finishing a sewing project, I couldn't stop thinking about some of the craft projects I want to do this year. I don't know how to describe it with words, but often I get some sort of ticking sensation and I can't stop thinking about it. But I waited patiently until I finished the sewing project (because if not I would never finish it), to start working on something.  I was torn between doing a miniature painting or try to create a new crate-furniture piece that I have in mind. Since it had been a while since I last posted a video on YouTube, I thought it could be more interesting to do the artwork first, and then start working on the furniture.  For this particular painting, I wanted to make something similar to those "boho" paintings that are so on trend right now. I'm sure that you've seen them countless times on Pinterest and on some decor stores. I did base my painting on some images I f...

Venturing into Youtube

Image
If you were here around 2017, you might remember that I uploaded a YouTube video repainting some photo frames . I was planning on keep posting videos, but I never did so. It was a mixture of many factors. On the house we were living back then, we didn't have space for a good set up, or good lightning. Plus, at that time I was very stressed out with a full time job that I hated and studying at University.  When we moved home back in 2020, I thought it could be the time to give it a try again but, once again, it didn't happen. This time it had to do with the fact that lockdown happened 3 weeks into the new house, so we couldn't get all the furniture pieces that we needed. By the time we got proper furniture on summer 2021, I was already too busy making content for Instagram and preparing blog posts that I didn't make any time for it. But finally, here we are, January 2022, starting to make videos.  The video is just a continuation of a post from last year, Doll-size paint...

How to repaint photo frames

Image
Hi everyone! Just a quick post to tell you that I've finally uploaded my first Youtube video. It's not a doll video and it's quite simple, but I wanted something easy to get started. Also, I've been wanting to repaint this frames for a while, so this got me a good excuse.
