New artwork tutorials

Hello again! Can you believe April is almost over? It's been over a month and a half since my last post, and I thought it would be a good idea to write a quick post to share some of my latest YouTube videos and do a quick catch-up.

This year I've decided to focus more on my YouTube channel. It's something I've wanted to do for a while, but I always found it hard to do. One of the things that I've discovered is that it's sometimes easier to film rather than to take photos to do a written tutorial. Yes, filming has its challenges, but I don't have to worry about putting a timer on my phone to get a photo that shows the process. I just press "record" and start crafting.

One of the main topics on my YouTube tutorials are miniature paintings. I decided to start with those because they're easier to do and they could be great practice until I got the hang of filming. I also have a lot of fun doing them and trying to come up with new ideas. The first out of the two videos is this burnt orange painting with a plant motif on it.

I saw something similar on Pinterest a while back and decided to do my own version. The original one was all brown tones, but I thought it could be too dull, so I changed it up. I'm not 100% sold on the final result, but I like the idea.

The second one is also a painting of a lemon with a green "blob" as a background. Scrolling through Pinterest, I saw a poster-style painting with a lemon, and this idea just came to mind.

I just think it's so fun and silly, and now that summer is almost around the corner, this is what I feel like painting. I would like to do a similar version, but this time with a pastel pink blob instead of green.

Since I don't have that many videos out, I don't have my content organized in playlists, but I do have a dedicated playlist for all my miniature artwork tutorials, if you would like to check it out.

As I mentioned in my last post, earlier this month Mr. Monster and I went to Slovenia to visit our nephew. I am planning to write a post about the trip, since some of you mentioned you would be interested. I will write it down eventually, but since that will take me longer to write, I wanted to put this post out first, and later on the trip one.

As per usual, there's a lot going on in my life right now. I'm still busy with work, German classes, and now I've also joined a short "administration and accounting" course, which should end around late May. So, definitely, "spare time" is not something I've had time to enjoy lately. As for the series of unfortunate events happening in my house, right after I published my last post, my computer decided that it was a great time to crash. We consulted with a technician who advised us to reinstall the software, which we did, and so far it is working, but let's keep our fingers crossed. The water filtering system has been replaced, so that's one thing less to worry about, but we still need to take care of our AC. Step by step.

My plans for the next "Monster Crafts Projects" are to work on the trip post for the blog and also edit a few photos for my Instagram, which currently is as good as dead. For Youtube, my next project is going to be a plant. I have never done this before, so I'm just going to figure out as I go. I already have the supplies that I need; I just need to find the time.

I hope you enjoyed the videos. I didn't embed the code this time, as I have a feeling it is better for my statistics if you actually go to my Youtube channel. So far I'm quite happy with the content I have put out this year. My short-term goal was to have a total of 10 long form videos uploaded, and I currently have 11. Next goal: 15. I would also love to get to 100 subscribers before the end of the year, but I'm growing at such a slow pace that I'm not sure if that will be possible. Anyway, the most important thing is to enjoy what you do, and currently I am enjoying the process a lot.

I hope you're all doing well. I will do a quick catch-up round on your blogs to see what you've been up to. I do love the little community I have here on the blogosphere, even though is not as active as it once used to be and I miss that.

See you soon

  1. Another great inpirational post, just a pity I am feeling so lazy. :( Sometimes my energy levels are just awful and I get absolutely nothing done, I don't know how you manage to do all you do and make YouTube tutorials as well. I guess youth as something to do with it. LOL!
Keep up the good work MC and I promise I will try to stop by more often.
    Big hugs,
    X

    1. Hi Xanadu! Thank you for your kind words. I'm surprised that you think that I manage to do a lot of things. Personally, I think I don't get anything done, and definitely not as many things as I would like to get done, especially these past two months that have been absolute chaos. I blame my time management skills LOL. I will still take "young" as a compliment XD.
I haven't been great either at keeping up with the blogosphere, so I'm not blaming you at all
      Big hugs to you too.

  2. Sorry I never stopped by to read this post, but I did watch the YouTube video, so I hope that is okay. :) I'm glad to hear that at least some of the house projects that were weighing on you are complete. I've checked out Instagram a few times in the past month or so, but I've cut back on how many people I follow. Their pictures were nice, but I wasn't getting anything from them in regards to community or inspiration, so I decided to save myself the time.

    1. Hi Barb. Well, a few days after publishing this, my washing machine decided to crash and we had to buy a new one. This happened the same week we had the big power outage in Spain and Portugal, so let's just say it's been an eventful month. I do have the same feeling about Instagram, it feels very "cold" in terms of interaction. Regarding inspiration, I still find it here and there, but it's not what it used to be. Even the Barbiestyle account is not as inspiring as it used to be.
      Thanks for stopping by!

  3. You've been busy! Glad your computer was ok in the end. I look forward to reading about your trip to Slovenia. House probs are relatable - we came back from Ibiza to a burst water pipe on the side of our house which was gushing water into the downstairs neighbours 🙈

I've been very busy with work lately but as I've cut out social media I'm enjoying more blogging time and catching up reading blogs, it's so nice and reminds me of those pre-social media blogging days.

Hope you're having a nice week so far 💖

    1. Hi Cuteek! Oh, no! The good thing about the pipe is that usually insurances take care of it, however, you have to deal with them. Hope it's fixed now.
I haven't cut all social media, but I definitely don't spend that much time there as I used to. Like I mentioned to you, with social media I often feel like I spend more time promoting my content than actually creating content.

Tuesday I have my last German exam, and then I will definitely start working on something for the blog.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a nice weekend!
