How to: doll-size crate bookshelf (new design)

Image
Back in 2020 I made a crate bookcase for my dolls and, on that post, I mentioned I had more ideas for different designs. I didn't get to make any of those designs I mentioned, unless we count the crate console I made last year (and that seriously needs a re-do). I almost forgot about this idea until a few months ago, when it started creeping up again. I also had all this colors I got on Christmas that I hadn't had the chance to try yet, so I thought this could be the perfect excuse to use them.  Since I've done quite a few posts on how to make crates, I won't go super in-depth with the explanation, as I don't want to bore my usual readers. However, if this is your first time here, you can always go to my previous posts linked above for further clarification. Between that and the photos, I think you'll be good to go. First, we need to plan out our design. I'm a very visual person, so, to get an idea of the size, I piled up some crates and took a photo next ...

Quick craft: letter decor

Image
These past couple of years I've been making some pieces of furniture, mostly bookcases, to fill up my indoor photo scenes. I have quite a few pieces to alternate now, but it turns out I don't have many props to fill them, and they sometimes look quite empty. So I thought I could start making smaller props to fill my shelves with and add more realism to my dioramas.  Today we're making some "letter decor" (I can't think of a better name) using some wooden letters. I found them at a store called Tedi and I believe they're meant for scrapbooking, but they're the perfect size for fashion dolls. It's quite a simple craft, so that's why I'm going to show you two different designs.  For this craft you will need: Small wooden letters for scrapbooking. Popsicle sticks and/or wooden coffee stirrers. Craft paint. White glue or hot glue. Scissors or a cutter.  Let's start with the easiest design, that was actually the one I did last. I picked up le...

Upcycling again: transforming more tea boxes into doll-size shelves

Image
Back in 2019, I wrote a blog post in which I transformed a tea box into a doll size shelf/bookcase to use as a prop for my doll scenes and dioramas. It was a pretty simple, yet effective idea that I wanted to keep exploring, but never did. In fact, by the time I published the post, I got two other boxes that have been sitting around in my doll room for about two years. Since I didn't have anything planned out next for the blog, I thought now could be a great time to give it a go.  On this post, I'm going to make two designs. The first one is the same I did in the original Upcycling post  but in a different color, so I'm not going to get into much detail with that one. The second one is a taller one that I will explain a bit better, even though the technique is basically the same. As I did mention in the original post, I got this idea from Bonequea, a Spanish doll collector. As I mentioned, the first design is the same box I did in my original post, except that this time I...
