Traveling with MC: Croatia and Slovenia

Image
Finally, and as I promised, here's the much-awaited post of my trip to Slovenia. I was meant to publish this much earlier, but life had other plans for me, and I haven't been able to do so until now. Well, I guess that better late than never. Let's start explaining how we ended up planning this trip. In case you don't know, Mr. Monster and I have a 20-year-old nephew who is studying history at university. This year, he decided to do Erasmus and stay for a full year in Maribor, Slovenia. Of course, as soon as we found out, we decided that we were going to visit him. Slovenia wasn't exactly in our traveling plans, but we thought this was a great opportunity to travel to a not-so-talked-about country. And honestly, it was worth it.   When we started planning the trip, the first issue we found is that there aren't many direct flights from Spain to Slovenia, unless you're flying from Madrid or Barcelona, which are both quite far away. So, we were left with two op...

New artwork tutorials

Hello again! Can you believe April is almost over? It's been over a month and a half since my last post, and I thought it would be a good idea to write a quick post to share some of my latest YouTube videos and do a quick catch-up.  This year I've decided to focus more on my YouTube channel. It's something I've wanted to do for a while, but I always found it hard to do. One of the things that I've discovered is that it's sometimes easier to film rather than to take photos to do a written tutorial. Yes, filming has its challenges, but I don't have to worry about putting a timer on my phone to get a photo that shows the process. I just press "record" and start crafting.    One of the main topics on my YouTube tutorials are miniature paintings. I decided to start with those because they're easier to do and they could be great practice until I got the hang of filming. I also have a lot of fun doing them and trying to come up with new ideas. The f...

How to: Textured "limewash effect" terracotta wall

Hello again dolly-friends. It's been a month  since my last post and, while I might not have been seen around here, I've managed to work on some doll stuff. As I have mentioned in my last couple of posts, I'm trying to work on my Youtube channel. Up until now, I had mainly done miniature artwork videos because they're easy to do, but this time I wanted to give it a try to make a wall.  For a while now, I wanted to make a colorful version of the "limewash effect" textured wall that I did a while back, but never got around it. So, when the time came to film a new video, I thought it could be a great idea. So, here it is. (Check out this link in case the embedded code doesn't work). Filming the wall was much harder than filming the teeny tiny artwork. I had a hard time figuring out how to fit the entire wall in frame. On top of that, since the support is attached to my table, every time I hit the wall with my sponge, it would shake my phone. Well, I'm ...

Video tutorial: Miniature painting "Boho Landscape" in green tones

Happy February, doll-friends! I'm so glad January is finally over, as it felt for me that it lasted for way too long.  Today's post is going to be short and sweet, but I just wanted to share with you my latest Video Tutorial. It's one of those "Boho landscapes" you see trending on Pinterest, this time in green tones. You might remember that I painted a similar one in warmer tones back in 2022 (check it out here ). This time, I made it using green tones. I don't know what it is, but lately I'm obsessed with green. Check it out I hope you enjoy the video. If the embedded coded doesn't work, you can watch it here . Please subscribe to my channel if you haven't already and like the video. If you could share it with others it would be very helpful. I'd love to get to 100 subscribers before the end of the year. A little secret about this painting: it's not the one I had originally planned to make. I did try to paint something else, but it ended u...

It's 2025...

Happy 2025 dolly-friends! Long time, no see.  I have been very quiet since my last post in October 2024. You might already know I've been busy with both my job and my German classes. But apart from that, I also haven't been very motivated to work on anything doll related. I haven't done a Christmas-related post for the first time since 2020. I had my German test right before Christmas, which took a lot of my time then. But even when they were done, I just didn't have the energy to come up with any photoshoot ideas. Well, hopefully this year I will find the right motivation for it when the time comes.  Back in November I started working on a new wall for my dioramas, but it didn't work out as I planned. I tried twice, and both times I faced issues. I thought of trying a new material for this, but I searched high and low in my area and couldn't find it. I was on holiday that week and didn't want to order online for it to arrive at a later time, and then be sit...
