Doll Review: Barbie Made to Move redhead

The Made to Move Barbie dolls a great improvement in the Barbie line. In a world full of stiff Fashionistas, this dolls open so many posing possibilities and make great body donators. My last Made To Move is the redhead with the baby blue top. I have already reviewed Asha (a.k.a "Yellow Top") and Lea (a.k.a "Purple Top). Also, I have rebodied two Fashionistas into MTM bodies (check it out here).

I got this doll back in september on Amazon. The one with the orange top wasn't avaliable in Spain, so I only got this one. However, I haven't spot them on any toy stores yet. But let's start the review.

The box of this Made to Move doll is not different from the ones of the first wave. Some of the picture on the background are different to include the two new dolls.

On the back of the box, we can see all the dolls in this line except Asha.

And finally, she's out of the box.

She has fair skin, brown eyes and freckles. When I received her, I wasn't very convinced about her face, but on the pictures she looks cute. Also, she has a very friendly face.

She has long straight red head hair. I don't know if I've ever told you that I love redheads. Her hair is mostly dark orange with some hints of a more brownish tone, but I don't think you can really notice that in the pictures.

Here come the bad news. Some strands of her hair are stuck into her neck, as it seems it got there when they attached the doll's head. Pretty in Paisley had the same problem, but much more subtle. I managed to pull some off, but some hairs broke and now she has hair comming out of her neck.

Her outfit is nothing speciall, just an elastic top and black leggins, like the other MTM dolls. I'm not very sure about the color combination of the top.

I love the ability to pose of this dolls. It just gives so much more expressivity to the dolls.

I love the MTM body, and I like the fact that they're releasing more dolls with different outfits than this ones, even though they're still sport themed. However, I think they're still missing some skintones, like a very dark skin one that could match Fashionista number 20 (the one with the yellow flowered dress).

By the way, I don't know if you noticed it, but I've added a "My Barbie Collection" tab on the top of the page. I want to use that page to keep track of my Barbie dolls, with their names and information, such as if they have been rebodied. Also, I've just bought a tripod because I want to start to film videos for Youtube. I have a couple of crafts ideas in mind, quite simple ideas, but may be good way to get started.

Barbie Made To Move redhead blue top review

So what do you guys think of this lady? Which doll will you add to the MTM line?

  1. I love this one! I do like redheads with freckles. She has the same skin tone as the Barbie (aka Pink Top), so they are interchangeable as far as using them for body donors. I do have at least one of every MTM doll including the latest release of them in the Career lineup. These include the soccer players, skateborder and Karate versions.

    1. I LOVE redheads with freckles aswell. I have the Barbie with pink top aswell, but I actually bought her because I thought she would match the L.A Girl skintone, so she's waiting to become a body donor for someone else. Long time ago, I saw a post with all the MTM dolls and the fashionistas they matched. Unfortunatelly, this one and Barbie don't match any of the dolls I own. The one with purple top seems to be the one that matches the most dolls. I'm waiting for a couple of those career MTM dolls to hit the spanish stores, so I can finally give some dolls an articulated body.

I don't pretend to tell others what to do on their blogs, but since you are an expert in MTM matching skintones, making some sort of guide could be really helpful for other collectors, myself included.

    2. I know a guide like that would be nice! Maybe I could do a photo arrangement will each of the MTM dolls pictured with the dolls who got their bodies? I could put it on a separate tab on my blog -- when I get caught up with my other posts! 😀😇😂

    3. Hey Phyllis, some time ago I saw this, maybe you can use it as inspiration https://www.flickr.com/photos/88957722@N08/28715293363

  2. Yep, I'm a fan of redheads with freckles as well. So far I only have yellow top Asha and I got her on sale at Amazon. I know lots of people have several of these dolls but me being so cheap, I have to wait for clearances.

    1. Hi Muff! Surprisingly this dolls are retailed at a quite fair price in Spain. I got the ones that I left as they came at their regular prices or with very small discounts, and the ones that I used for a rebody with a 25% off. Of course, I'm always looking for bargains when I buy dolls, but sometimes you don't find a good deal on the one you want.

  3. I love redheads too. I don't like this doll's face mold, but I might get her to do rebodying. Now that you mention the hair issue, I think I've noticed it with one of my recent doll purchases, but I forget which one.

    1. Hi Barb! Do you know which head mold is this one? I can't identify it! Mattel should definitely pay more attention to the quality of their products.

  4. I didn't like this doll in the initial photos because I thought she had the Skipper head mould, but I accidentally found out she actually has the closed mouth GG mould, like my doll with purple hair, and I love it on her: https://scontent-otp1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/10402962_1035490986501470_5888924321963770316_n.jpg?oh=4c047df25ead1d5ecfe20864b91ce6ca&oe=5910A428
I still don't like her face, maybe it's the freckles or the non-bitchy style of face paint, but now that I know she has a nice sculpt underneath I'll keep an eye out for sales. I like the hair colour too. I like the curly blonde doll more though.

    1. Hi BlackKitty! Thank you so much for the info about the head mold. I'm far from being an expert on Barbie head molds and I couldn't indentify this one. I prefer this one to the one with orange top, but I'm also keeping an eye to add her to my collection... and another one to rebody Ice Cream Romper.

  5. Hi hi!!! Just popped in to let you know (in case you didn't see my comment) that you're on my blog list now. I don't collect playline dolls anymore, but I'd like to commend you for your photography of the dolls here on your page. These are the kind of dolls that normally don't get my attention, but your close up shots of them bring so much of their character out rendering them absolutely charming.

    1. Hi April! Thank you so much for your comment! I don't consider myself a good photographer, so it means a lot to me that someone likes my photos. I love playline dolls, but I'd love to get some collector dolls aswells, like Barbie look. Thank you so much aswell for adding me to your blog list.
