Doll Review: Barbie Fashionistas "Tribal Romper"

Hi everyone! Today I wasn't planning on reviewing another Barbie Fashionista doll, but everytime I asked Mr. Monster which doll should I review next, he would just say "The one that I got you", so I thought it was just the right time to do so. The doll I'm talking about is Barbie Fashionista Tribal Romper, from the 2015 Fashionistas line.

I got this doll back in September for my birthday, but because all the work at University I haven't been able to do so. So let's start the review!

The box has the same design as other Fashionista boxes, however, unlike some of the newest, it doesn't have the number of doll or the official name anywhere. Don't ask me why the doll has the cardboard cutout on her hands, but it looks like it has been done on purpose.

The back of the box is quite simple and has photos of other Fashionistas in this wave.

And here she is out of the box.

Tribal Romper has tanned skin, brown eyes and light pink lipstick. Her head mold is quite new and was first introduced on this doll. Fans seem to call it "Kassandra", but Mattel hasn't confirmed that to be the official name.

he has beautiful dark mahogany hair with red highlights. One side of  her hair is pulled back  with a rubber band. Considering what Mattel has us used to, this one looks like she just stepped out of a shampoo commercial.

She wears a tribal patterned pink romper with turquoise details. Even though I'm concerned about the overuse of pink on some Barbie outfits, I like how it's used on this one. Actually, it looks quite a realistic design.

She wears flat beige ropped sandals. They look quite bulky at first sight, but it's actually a very detailed design.

She also comes with a turquoise crossbody bag. It's nice, but the strap is deformed because of the way it came attached on the box. I must say that on the picture it looks a little bit more blueish that in person.

Many of the Barbie dolls that I have purchased lately don't have earrings, but this one wears two big diamond shaped rings.

I'm so happy to finally have this one. I wanted her since the first time i saw her promo pictures, but I never found her on stores. Luckily, Mr Monster got ger at a quite fair price and gave it to me as a birthday present. She's quite pretty, but a little bit hard to photograph. i think they could do a better job with her eye paint.

I think that Mattel did it just right with this doll. She has quite a lot of personality and her design is different to other dolls Mattel had us used to. Sometimes, I feel like Mattel plays it too safe with the design of their lines, and that they could have more bold designs.

Since fans seem to call this one Kassandra, I'm considering calling her Kassandra aswell. However, I haven't made up my mind if I should spell it with a "K" or a "C". What do you think?

  1. She is a beauty, MonsterCrafts! I like Cassandra with a C...I think that suits her. :) I really think she is a gorgeous doll and I haven't seen her in stores much at all, lately. I love her unique face and pretty outfit. :)

    1. I think I prefer Cassandra with C aswell. I like her uniqueness aswell, but I think that they could improve her face paint, her lips look slightly off.

  2. I wasn't feeling her until you showed the photo of her from the side. She looks quite real from the side and darn cute. I also like that romper fashion.

    1. I was supposed to be taking pictures of the earring, but she looks gorgeous from the side. The romper is quite nice.

  3. I was going to look for the football player with this sculpt when they arrive in our stores, but this one has way prettier hair and earrings. You can straighten the bag in a cup of boiling water.

    1. When Mr. Monster got her I hadn't seen the football player before, but I agree about the hair. Thanks for the tip to fix the bag!
